I...I've only done craft shows for my jewelry... I've found that just making your display as attractive as possible and NOTICEABLE is pretty key. Also, it helps to have someone with you that can really help sell your stuff too so you can get breaks and you can help more than one customer at a time. Hope that helps!Cecilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01550935887940895613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395716155718406728.post-28406091043246341442010-09-20T22:07:44.585-04:002010-09-20T22:07:44.585-04:00I only join 3 of craft shows for this one year. I ...I only join 3 of craft shows for this one year. I never put a background for craft with "noisy" background like parsley pattern, or anything with vibrant colour. If there's a desk i much prefer to cover it with plain table cover with pastel colour so people can easily look at my item (now confused with "noisy" background). Bring your craft tool is fun! If your stand is not really crowded with people, you can craft!

Dita
http://maulani.etsy.comDita Maulanihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00928100723028499717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395716155718406728.post-28399348317477110192010-09-19T22:17:35.053-04:002010-09-19T22:17:35.053-04:00I've never done a craft show, but from art fai...I've never done a craft show, but from art fairs and craft shows, the thing I always like is when they have several different price points. I hate it when I love someone's artistic style, but I can't afford anything they're selling.Jenniferhttp://ajennuinelife.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395716155718406728.post-29945739291149131202010-09-19T22:07:09.054-04:002010-09-19T22:07:09.054-04:00Make sure your display is full, but not crowded. I...Make sure your display is full, but not crowded. If you have too much stuff out people feel overwhelmed. I've found that If I have baskets or totes ready with extra merchandise it works much better than crowding the table. People like to be able to see what you have to offer without having to "dig" or spend too much time looking. Another thing that might be helpful is to have a giveaway at your table. People love free stuff, and if you have a drawing, people will spend time at your booth not only filling out the slip for the freebie, but also looking at your stuff ;).Amy A @ Child Central Stationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07846984785038373093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395716155718406728.post-65260023070334315652010-09-19T20:47:33.294-04:002010-09-19T20:47:33.294-04:00My advice would be to keep smiling and look busy. ...My advice would be to keep smiling and look busy. Make sure that you have something that looks interesting that you are making so that it draws people into your booth to say "Hey, what is that?"
Best of luck with your upcoming show!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18109923086568763363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395716155718406728.post-36206121896676141122010-09-19T20:25:31.591-04:002010-09-19T20:25:31.591-04:00I don't really have any craft show advice beca...I don't really have any craft show advice because I've never done one, although now I"m definitely thinking about! My tid bit comes from the career fair I just went to last week: yes, sitting there can be boring, but if you look like you're in a deep conversation with your best friend or your blackberry, you look super unapproachable and people will just walk by, even if they wanted to talk to you or buy something

I think I'd have to add crafting with caution at your booth to the list of possible no-nos, Kristy said it worked great for her, but I'd like to point out that it was on custom pieces (and she probably still paid attention to the people walking by:)Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05872696136446409255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395716155718406728.post-17589472178227006352010-09-19T18:11:28.718-04:002010-09-19T18:11:28.718-04:00The last craft show I did, I knew I had a winner i...The last craft show I did, I knew I had a winner in one product. It was something that I could custom make for people on the spot. I sold a lot more because of that little bonus. "I would totally buy this if you had it in brown." "I wish you had them in children's sizes." Then they would find out that I could make one just for them while they went around to the rest of the show, and boom, I sold another item. Of course it wasn't crazy busy at that show either, so I wasn't distracted as often.Kristyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12749238346429597597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3395716155718406728.post-18879521025676762412010-09-19T17:59:06.223-04:002010-09-19T17:59:06.223-04:00I've only done two craft shows & they were...I've only done two craft shows & they were in a market where my stuff didn't sell. My advice is to make sure your booth looks well put together. Don't just slap a tablecloth & call it done (tho I am sure you won't lol) but make sure it reflects you & your product. The first year we just put it all out there. The next year we had a banner & nice tablecloths & displays. it looked professional & we got a better response.

And most of all, have fun! I knew I wasn't going to sell a whole bunch because I wasn't in my own market. But I had fun with my friends, at the festival, & just enjoyed saying hi to people!

Have a blast!!!! Which ones are you going to participate in? I can't wait to go to some this fall/winter :)Moehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08820449256097370869noreply@blogger.com
