Just Like That, I am Back

If I said I was back, would you believe me? Blogging is complicated, and there are so many "get rich quick" blogging schemes that make it look like you are a lost cause if you are not currently earning money blogging. And why are you even blogging if you don't have multiple streams of income and entertainment. If you don't have a brand? I do have this website, but I do not have Instagram, Twitter, TikTok (you don't want to see me dance), or whatever is next.  Heck, I haven't even updated this since before the pandemic. So why am I here, writing about being back and then, probably ghosting for another two years? Life has been rough. It's been painful and overwhelming. I am so thankful for you my readers, or what is left of you. I am so thankful you are reading this post. I am so thankful that you are still committed to making the world a more exciting and more sustainable place.  Keep up-cycling my friends, and you never know, I might be back again with an

Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Oreos on a Stick Tutorial

Can you imagine anything better then a peanut butter oreo? Dip it in chocolate, put it on a stick and I am just in heaven.

I don't know why but anything on a stick makes me smile. So how do you make these little lovelies? Here is what you need:

  • Oreos - Pick a flavor Peanut Butter, Mint, Regular. They all work.
  • One pound of chocolate (I got mine from Heinen's)
  • Candy Sticks (I got a pack of 100 from Joann's)
  • Plastic bag
  • Silpat
Pretty easy so let's do this.

Open up your Oreos and try one (you know to make sure that they taste okay, you never know when you will get a bad bag.

Seperate your Oreos in half. Lay them on your Silpat.

Pour your chocolate in a microwaveable dish and set your microwave to 50%. I microwave it one minute, then 30 seconds, then in additional thirty second increments until it is 95% melted. Make sure to stir in between each increment.

Dip your stick in the chocolate and roll it around. You want to get a generous amount of chocolate on the stick for the next step.

Lay your stick down in the middle of the cream and press it into the creamy goodness.  Allow the chocolate to overflow and immediately press the top of the oreo back where it belongs.

This is what it will look like:

I like to leave the little oreo sucker on top of the silpat until the chocolate in the middle hardens. The next step is the most fun. You are going to take your lovely little oreo sucker and swirl it into your chocolate. You might want to grab a spoon to laddle a little around any areas you can't catch by dipping.

I like to shake a little bitt of the chocolate off so it doesn't get too thick.

Sprinkle with sprinkles for a little added excitement. I actually took two oreos, put them in a plastic bag, pounded it and used the crushed morsels as the decorations.  When you are done you can let them dry on your silpat or drill some holes in a board so that you can stand them up to dry like this.

Now try one, and enjoy! These were a huge hit at the last party I went to. I like to put them in a decorated tin, standing up so people can just grab them whenever they want a little treat.

Enjoy!

P.S. I am a big fan of always giving credit where credit is due. I know for a fact that I didn't make this recipe up, it has been done before and it will be done again. One of my fave blogs is Bakerella who puts the most wonderful things in the world on a stick. So I just want to thank her for all of her inspiration.

Peanut Butter oreos? No way! I didn't know there was such a thing! FABULOUS! Excellent tutorial. I'm a cake sculptor and chocolatier and love dipping cookies in chocolate. I love the way you solved the cookie-falling-off-the-stick problem by first opening the cookie and cementing it with some melted chocolate. Truly BRILLIANT!
