Just Like That, I am Back

If I said I was back, would you believe me? Blogging is complicated, and there are so many "get rich quick" blogging schemes that make it look like you are a lost cause if you are not currently earning money blogging. And why are you even blogging if you don't have multiple streams of income and entertainment. If you don't have a brand? I do have this website, but I do not have Instagram, Twitter, TikTok (you don't want to see me dance), or whatever is next.  Heck, I haven't even updated this since before the pandemic. So why am I here, writing about being back and then, probably ghosting for another two years? Life has been rough. It's been painful and overwhelming. I am so thankful for you my readers, or what is left of you. I am so thankful you are reading this post. I am so thankful that you are still committed to making the world a more exciting and more sustainable place.  Keep up-cycling my friends, and you never know, I might be back again with an

Black Friday and Tshirt Diaries

Don't forget to sign up for the Holiday Craft swap Here I can't believe only six of you want to swap some holiday goodness:(

It has been a crazy busy week. Last year I got up at 3am to shop those Black Friday deals. This year I have completely ignored them. It has not been easy. I mean I LOVE a good bargain. I love getting Thomas the Train Engine for 50% off!

So why am I ignoring. I am trying to buy only locally made Christmas presents for my kids and I am also trying to teach my kids that they do not "need" every toy that they see on television. I am also making a large portion of their Christmas presents.  I love my children very much and I know a day will come when I absolutely will not be able to do a handmade holiday for them because they will need to have a Wii. Heck I wouldn't mind getting one myself.

While they are young and can truly appreciate handmade I am going to encourage and support it. I am going to encourage making things because as a great women named Little Tiger once said HERE "Buying is boring."  (Seriously check out the blog Little Tiger and the Milk Belly Princess!)

I'm so busy, I just am afraid to commit.

I agree. And if you do lots of homemade now, they will still appreciate it when they want a Wii.

I'd like to swap, but postage from Canada is always ridiculous.

Last Christmas I did handmade/ethical gift giving and loved it. It's really funny because my sister is very much a shopping fiend and ultimate consumer, when I told her before Christmas that some of her gifts I had made, she wasn't too enthused about the idea. This year she has put things on her list that she knows I can make! That one really shocked me! I'd love to see what you come up with for your family, handmade gifts are the best!

I just finished doing a Christmas swap with another group, and shipping to Australia was more than I bargained for. I hope that your swap goes really well. You would have really liked the swap that I was in, because no shopping was allowed (unless to buy items to finish a handmade gift).

Our Christmas is also mostly handmade. I've bought a few things locally. Only my kids and nephews are getting store bought items. My kids are still getting several handmade items though.
