Just Like That, I am Back

Image
If I said I was back, would you believe me? Blogging is complicated, and there are so many "get rich quick" blogging schemes that make it look like you are a lost cause if you are not currently earning money blogging. And why are you even blogging if you don't have multiple streams of income and entertainment. If you don't have a brand? I do have this website, but I do not have Instagram, Twitter, TikTok (you don't want to see me dance), or whatever is next.  Heck, I haven't even updated this since before the pandemic. So why am I here, writing about being back and then, probably ghosting for another two years? Life has been rough. It's been painful and overwhelming. I am so thankful for you my readers, or what is left of you. I am so thankful you are reading this post. I am so thankful that you are still committed to making the world a more exciting and more sustainable place.  Keep up-cycling my friends, and you never know, I might be back again with an

Upcycled Awesome #64

Image
Welcome to the Last Upcycled Awesome of Stashbusting September. I am so excited for all of the stashbusting that we have done this month and how far we have gotten with our "staches." I will be releasing the top ten stashbusting projects next week and you will get an entire week to vote for your favorite. But, right now it is Upcycled Awesome time and I want to share some great Upcycled Awesome projects from last week. I was really blown away by the earthy goodness of Trying To Keep Up's twig vase this week. I have also been meaning to make some Wall Art like this grouping done by Creations by June . I also love the concept of the " Banned Books Card Case " by Word up, Nerd up. So cute and so very clever! So let's get this Upcycled Party Started and see what you can do this week.

Thank you so much everyone for your hard work and I can not wait to see what you come up with the rest of the month. Ready.... Set..... Stashbust!

Eric Carle for Pottery Barn Knock-Off

Image
Yeah I would have gone home for sure with this one, but it was fun to try and work with some techniques I have never even thought of trying.... The final project I did for So You Think You're Crafty. My children love the story of The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, heck they love anything by Eric Carle and I LOVE the pictures. Pottery Barn Kids is offering this lovely licensed print selection:   My daughters room has a beautiful butterfly theme. Now I am not an artist by any stretch of the imagination. I wanted to try and draw the butterfly, but instead I decided to do a mixed media piece for my daughters room. It is simple enough and she loves the jewels on the wings.  Best part it might not look like Eric Carle, but it does resemble his style and cost a lot less than the $109 picture at Pottery Barn. Thanks for looking!

Proudly Displaying Jennifer's brand new button: I am excited to introduce everyone to the beautiful and talented newbie blogger Jennifer: Jennifer from Finding My Way in Texas 1.Tell us a little about you and your blog. I fell in love with the Blogosphere right before I moved to Texas. I knew that once I got here I wanted to start my own so I could let friends and family back home know what I was up to, and also so I could have an outlet for my creativity. Plus its a great way to meet new people :)   2.How and when did you start crafting? I have been crafting for as long as I can remember. Most of what I know comes from my Nana. She helped me make Christmas presents for my family every year. I was also homeschooled by my Incredible Mother, right through grade 12 and that afforded me TONS of opportunities to be creative and develop my love of arts and crafts.   3.What made you decide to join Stashbusting September? Since I've arrived in Texas, I've &q

Cleveland Heroes Run

Image
This weekend my family participated in the Cleveland Heroes Run.   There is no greater price one can pay than to give one’s life in the line of duty. Often, little can be done to lessen the pain and fill the tremendous loss to the families and to the community. The race supports a scholarship fund for the fallen officers of the Cleveland Police Officers and Firefighters of the West Park area. The entryway was lined with pictures of lost firefighters and police officers Th guys checking out the course It was another amazing race for another amazing cause. Prior to the race there was a beautiful ceremony where names were read. Click to read more....

Crafty Cards with Leslie from Try To Keep Up

Image
Hello all you lovely Stashbusting beauties!   I'm Leslie, sister to the imaginative Jill from Envirocraftiness, and I blog over at Try To Keep Up!   I'm so thrilled to be guest posting here at the T-Shirt Diaries for Stashbusting September!  And today I'm gonna be 'busting some crap....er I mean scraps!   If you're a paper crafter, like me, you can't stay away from patterned paper!  Oh the designs!  Thing is, once you've cut that pristine piece of paper, you're left with wonky little scraps of paper.  What to do?  Use 'em, in either of these 2 card layouts!   Simplistic Circles Gather a bunch of seemingly mis-matched paper scraps   Then cut out a lot of little circles.  Depending on the size of your card these circles can range from the size of a quarter to a loonie or toonie (Canadian dollar and $2 coin respectively).  I was really fancy and used my glue stick as my circle template. Then start gluing those circles onto the card in rows, slight

Introducing Leslie from Try To Keep Up

Meet Leslie: She runs a blog called Try to Keep Up! She will be sharing some fabulous card tutorials tomorrow. But first let's learn a little bit more about Leslie 1.Tell us a little about you and your blog. Hello T-Shirt Diary fans! I'm Leslie, a dance teacher & choreographer by trade and crafter in my spare time. Since I have a hungry fiance to feed I spend a lot of my time cooking instead of crafting. But I'm an all around artsy fartsy kinda gal. On my blog Try To Keep Up! you'll find scrapbooking, cards, spray paint & other home projects, snippets of my latest choreography, and a lot of recipes! 2.How and when did you start crafting? I've been crafting probably as long as I've been dancing...which if you're curious is about 25 years! My sister Jill, yes THAT Jill from Envirocraftiness, and I have always loved making projects, and the projects have evolved as we've grown up. I really can't remember a time I didn't like

Thrift Store T-Shirts To Fireman Hoodie

It has been a good run over at So You Think Your Crafty. Now it is time to say a sweet and loving good-bye. It is kind of bittersweet for me because I did think I would get farther in the contest and I thought this shirt I made for C2 was awesome,  but at the same time I might not be a crafty contest girl? I don't mean that completely, I am up for a good craft challenge, but entering my first crafting contest and having it run during Stashbusting September kid of killed me. I had a hard time because while I knew what projects were coming up during the month I didn't want to stock up on supplies the day before Stashbusting September came. It felt kind of like cheating or something (although I did get my dollar store supplies at the end of August, because honestly I never shop at dollar stores) I might have sounded snobby saying that I don't shop at Dollar stores, like I am above them or something, but the fact of the matter is I prefer to get things from Goodwil
