Just Like That, I am Back

Image
If I said I was back, would you believe me? Blogging is complicated, and there are so many "get rich quick" blogging schemes that make it look like you are a lost cause if you are not currently earning money blogging. And why are you even blogging if you don't have multiple streams of income and entertainment. If you don't have a brand? I do have this website, but I do not have Instagram, Twitter, TikTok (you don't want to see me dance), or whatever is next.  Heck, I haven't even updated this since before the pandemic. So why am I here, writing about being back and then, probably ghosting for another two years? Life has been rough. It's been painful and overwhelming. I am so thankful for you my readers, or what is left of you. I am so thankful you are reading this post. I am so thankful that you are still committed to making the world a more exciting and more sustainable place.  Keep up-cycling my friends, and you never know, I might be back again with an

Fabric Organization Tutorial

Image
In honor of Spring Stashbust I thought I would share a tutorial on how I am organizing my fabric. First off I have a ton of fabric hanging out all over my house. I mean it is ugly. Regular readers can vouch for this based on some pictures of my stash. Okay I guess I will share one with you, just one. Told you it was ugly!   So I had to get serious. Lets start with a few simple items. Your fabric stash or at least the random bolt of fabric you have laying in the middle of your room. This is the official before folding pile Random Fabric Lying in the middle of my room You will also need something to fold up your fabric with. I have seen a lot of recommendations for comic book boards, but if I am stashbusting I am not going to run off to the comic book store to grab a bunch of boards I will have every intention of using but never actually use. I choose my cutting guide thingy. I know not the official name but it works. What is the correct name for this? A Quilting r

Cassidy from Thrillingly Thrifty's Bookshelf Puppet Theater

Image
Welcome Cassidy! From a blog whose name says it all: She took this: And turned it into this: Welcome Cassidy and thank you for sharing a little more about yourself such as:  What made you decide to sign up for the Spring Stashbust? I have this terrible habit of starting a project, then getting distracted (usually by my kids, which is okay I guess). By the time I get back in my craft room I forget what I was doing, so I just shove everything on a shelf and start something else. My shelves are overflowing with half finished things, so this is the kick in the pants I need to get it all done! What are your favorite Upcycling projects? I'm really into sewing right now, so I love to scour the thrift stores for vintage clothes that I can repurpose. I'm also mildly obsessed with wool sweaters - I can't BELIEVE all the cool things you can do with a felted sweater! I'm trying to branch out from sewing, though, and trying to do some home decor - we'll see

Jen from Lil Mop Top's Girly Apron

Image
I am Drooling over this awesome project our guest blogger Jen from Lil Mop Top put together. That is right I said it, drool! I am in love with this girly apron. I have some stash I could definitely bust to make one of these beauties. I am in LOVE with this apron! What am I talking about, well read on my friends because I would like to introduce you to Jen of Lil Mop Top. Jen from Lil Mop Top (isn't she adorable!) So lets learn a little more about Jen and why she joined the stashbusting challenge... 1. I have way too much craft stuff for a small space so I thought joining in on the Spring Stashbust might motivate me to start getting crafty and putting all the fun goodies to good use! ...and I think my husband might start questioning why I keep buying stuff yet I am not making much with it! :) 2. My favorite upcycling projects are anything that uses old clothes and giving them a facelift or repurposing them altogether. My two boys seems to stain/ruin clothes often so

Floor Puffs from Guest Blogger Emily at Domestic Deadline

Image
Thank You So Much Emily from Domestic Deadline for sharing the cuteness that are these floor puffs. What made you decide to sign up for the Spring Stashbust?   I have tons of great supplies, but not enough space to store them all so they have to be used. Plus it's motivation to get some more stuff made for my etsy shop, Harper N Co. What are your favorite Upcycling projects: Clothes for the kids and me! I've got quite a few spring sweater refashions already in the works and plans for some spring and summer dresses. I'm currently attempting to revamp my wardrobe to be more stylish but still super comfy.   Anything that is inspired by something expensive but barely costs me anything. Any crafty earthday tips for our readers? Think outside the box and give what you already have on hand a second look before running out to buy something. Need fiber fill/stuffing? What about that ugyly peice of fleece that probably isn't going to get used, or yarn scraps.

Featured Blogger Theresa from All Is Well

Image
Hi Everyone I am so pleased to welcome the lovely Theresa  from All Is Well to our Spring Stashbust celebration. Theresa has a fun blog with a great name (mommies out there do you feel me on this one?) She has amazing Anthro knock-off skills and can bake a cake like no ones business (putting my little skills to shame, but hey). Before we share her lovely tutorial I asked her to answer a few questions about herself: #1 – I decided to sign up for the Spring Stashbust because I love myself an upcycled project! What’s better than taking something you no longer use and transforming it into something even better? And…I may just have a stash or two that needs some busting!   #2 – My favourite upcycled project is by far my anthro-inspired necklace…upcycled from an old woolen sweater and a cast-off necklace.      #3 – Have you ever wondered what to do with those small scraps of paper left over from a project? How about turning them in to some sweet little cupcake toppers? All

Let's Get Naked

Image
Okay Here it is, my full on naked pictures of my stash. Hold on to your hat because they are absolutely scandalous. I mean hardcore scandalous. They are full of crafts that are bursting at the scene and begging to be used, or at least put away. See as you all know the problem got ten times worse when my local JoAnne's put the vast majority of their fabric at 75% off. I mean really I had to. So Here is the first picture of my over the top stash of T-Shirts, if you want to see the rest just click on the the next page, it's Safe for work, but not pretty.

40 in 40 Update

Image
I am participating in the 40 in 40 challenge over at White House, Black Shutters. I have to say I was so geeked up (and still am) about this awesome challenge. I however am not going to knock out the 40 in 40 like I planned, but I did donate three bags and boxes to Easter Seals today, I have a box of CD's that are going to the Sight Center, and a box of kitchen supplies going to the West Side Catholic center. So five down only thirty-five to go. I have to say I am glad to be clearing out the clutter in my house, but what I really need to do is bust some stash. Old T-Shirts Oh on that note I also was able to make eleven T-Shirt bags to take to Crafty Goodness (The store where I sell my Crafty goodness.) If you have a few extra T-Shirts on hand that you are pretty much done wearing you really should turn them into the easy and practical Upcycled T-Shirt Bag   ***Tutorial Here*** . Let me say this bag holds so much stuff it puts other grocery bags to shame. New T-S

Spring Stashbust Rules & Sign-Up

Image
Congratulations you are taking the first step in busting some stash. For one month you will put your credit card on ice and use only what you have on hand. Think it will be hard? Actually once you get going and see your crafting supplies go from overwhelming your house to a more ordered crafting room that can easily be maneuvered you will be glad you took this challenge. So what do you have to do? First you need to sign up below. List the name of your blog and take the challenge. You are basically committing to abstaining from any craft supply purchase unless absolutely necessary for a period of 30 days. ***March 22nd through April 22nd to be exact*** Wait did I say unless absolutely necessary? So does that mean a sale on fleece is okay to indulge in? NO! Absolutely necessary means you either need to purchase supplies for a business (NO PERSONAL USE) or if you ran out of thread, glue, or mod podge and can not craft without it than yes you can purchase a spool. Secondly yo
